1. Never Let Others Tell You Your Goals Are Unrealistic
Real life experiences prove that no dream or goal is unrealistic. Life is funny in a way that it takes us in so many different directions that anything is pretty much possible and as long as you believe that, there are no limits to what you can do. Don’t let other people’s judgments steer you away from what you believe will make you happy and just keep going after what you want.
2. Be Persistent
The only way to realistically reach your goal is to be persistent with everything you do. You try it once and fail, try again! You tried it a second time and you failed? Change your approach and try again! You learn from your mistakes as you go and who knows, maybe you will get lucky just by chance - many do!

3. Don’t Be Afraid to Take Chances
Chasing your dream with hesitation is no way to go about it. You have to be aggressive with your actions and thinking. You have to be smart but still be willing to take chances and risk some things when an opportune moment arises. Playing safe might be comforting, but at the end of the day taking risks can take you that much closer to your goal.
4. Don’t Get Discouraged
Thinking realistically, things turn out much better in your head than they do in real life. Therefore you can definitely expect bumps along the road. You might face failures and reach your tipping point, but as I have stated before, it is all about persistence. You fall once, you brush yourself off and you keep going!
5. Be Patient
As a very impatient person, this is the lesson that I have had to learn myself over the years. Every time I wanted something, I wanted it done pronto! However some things take time and the less patient you are, the more destruction you are causing to yourself. So don’t expect to be where you want to be in a matter of days or months, because some things take years to take the right turn.
6. Avoid Stepping on People’s Toes
The most satisfactory way to succeed at getting what you want is to do it without sacrificing relationships or stepping on people’s toes along the way. Trust me, you will feel a lot more victorious knowing that you didn’t have to use or hurt others to get what you have always wanted. Knowing that you have made it here all on your own is just the cherry on the top.
7. Don’t Be Afraid to Ask for Guidance
Chances are that the road you are about to take to reach your lifetime goal is very unfamiliar. You might want to ask for some guidance from people who have been through it all. Learning from your own mistakes is great, but it doesn’t mean that you can avoid making some and instead learn from others. Talk to others and make connections!
Each and every one of us has a goal in mind. For some of us, it may be to lose weight before summer comes around and for others, it might be to become a successful doctor. Whatever it is, what tips that you learned from your own experience would you offer for someone striving to reach his or her goal?
