7 Ways to Wake up Happy Tomorrow ...

By Paula • Apr 29, 2014 MD

If you are one of those people who always wakes up feeling stressed, worrying about the day ahead or going over the events of the previous day in your mind, then stop - here are 7 ways to wake up happy! There are plenty of ways to wake up happy tomorrow and the good news is, they're all pretty small, easy changes that you can make, starting right now!

1. Get a Good Night's Sleep

The number one thing to remember about waking up happy is that your body needs its rest. Sure, you might still feel a bit stressed about work in the morning, but your body (and mind) will cope a whole lot better if you've had 8 hours or more of sleep. This is one of the best ways to wake up happy, try it for yourself and see!

2. List Your Worries

Making a list of all your worries - or tasks you need to complete tomorrow - before you go to bed ensures that you can let go of what's stressing you and drift off to sleep. You're sure to wake up feeling refreshed; just remember to have some breakfast before you tackle the list!

3. Start 100 Happy Days

There's a new craze around at the moment - 100 happy days. You simply find one thing that makes you happy every day for 100 days, photograph it and share it with the #100happydays hashtag on Instagram, Tumblr, Facebook - the choice is yours. This is a really positive way to find something good in every single day; I'm doing it right now!

4. Plan Things to Look Forward to

Rather than looking at your diary and seeing 2 weeks of solid work deadlines, make plans so you have something to look forward to. Everyone needs a reward after hard work, so make time to meet friends for coffee, go to the cinema, have a shopping trip; whatever makes you smile. Having something to look forward to is sure to have you waking up feeling happier!

Embrace the vibrant colors and cozy vibes of the upcoming season with your loved ones. Planning for some memorable fall family photos is a unique way to capture the warmth and love amidst the breathtaking autumnal hues. Trust me, these keepsakes would be beyond beautiful.

5. Eat a Breakfast You Enjoy

Many of us are guilty of skipping breakfast or cramming in a cardboard-flavored cereal bar or low-fat cereal as we rush out the door. Take the time to prepare a breakfast you enjoy, even if it's only once or twice a week - it will give you a healthy start to the day and give you something to look forward to when you get out of bed.

6. Take the Time to Pamper

Pampering yourself in the evening after work is a great way to wake up the next day feeling (and looking) great. A long, hot bubble bath, face mask or hair treatment will leave you feeling relaxed and ready to drift off for a good night's sleep. You'll start the next day feeling happier and more confident, I practically guarantee it!

7. Read a Book

Reading at bedtime is a proven way to relax, so turn your phone on silent, switch off the TV and laptop and relax with your favorite novel. Not only does reading help you to relax, it lets your creativity flow, so even half an hour of reading before bedtime could help you wake up on Monday morning raring to go and filled with great ideas for the day!

Are there things you do that help you to wake up happy? What are your tips for a sunny, smiley Monday morning where you feel on top of the world? I'd love to hear them!
