1. Get a List of Goals

If you want to go far in life, you need to set goals for yourself. They can be short-term, like wanting to make enough money to buy your brother a birthday gift, or long-term, like wanting to move out of the country. No matter what your goals are, making them is one of the bet ways to be successful while you're still young. The more goals you set, the more determined you'll be to accomplish them, which means you'll have a higher success rate than your peers.

2. Take Advantage of the Internet

With the help of the internet, it's easier than ever to turn your craft into a business. If you're awesome at knitting or crafts, make an Etsy account to sell your items. If you're a singer or musician, upload videos to YouTube to be seen by more people.

3. Know when to Network

Networking is important, no matter how old you are. If you know you want to be a writer and your aunt is a book publisher, stay on her good side. If you know a certain professor's recommendation would look amazing on applications, buy them a present at the end of the year.

4. Prepare and Practice

If you want to become a doctor, but are too young to practice medicine, you can still prepare for your future. If you know a doctor, spend some time with her and see if she'll give you advice. She might even let you shadow her to see how she preforms her job. If all else fails, there are plenty of books to take out from the library on any subject you're interested in.

5. Do Your Work

You might not care about your chemistry homework, but right now it's your priority. Even if it doesn't help you in the future, the fact that you're working hard on it will matter in the future. It gives you practice dealing with difficult situations. Even if you get your dream job, you'll have days where you'll be stuck doing things you wish you didn't have to do.

6. Make Appropriate Posts

Don't let the things you post online today impact you tomorrow. Save all of those drunken photos for your personal collection. They don't belong online for potential employers to stumble across one day. Keep your image clean.

7. Don't Let Age Stop You

There are dozens of examples of students who have become millionaires by creating websites or letting their ideas become a reality. I mean, look at Mark Zuckerberg. He's proof that your age shouldn't stop you from doing what you want to do.

Your doubts could cause you to give up on your dreams, but you should fight to never let that happen. You could end up changing the world one day. What do you hope to accomplish during the new year?
