If you’re anything like me, waking up in the morning is not exactly your favourite part of the day, but luckily I’ve figured out 7 ways to wake up happy every single day. It’s not always the easiest thing, but trust me when I say if you open your eyes with something to look forward to that makes you instantly happy, you’ll almost look forward to when that alarm clock waking you up - almost! Here are a few ways to wake up happy... and stay happy all day!

1 Make Your Alarm Tone Your Favourite Song

Everyone has that song that comes on the radio that instantly lifts your mood, and using it as an alarm is one of the ways to wake up happy. It could be an oldie, it could be a current hit, but it gets you bopping along. I used to set my alarm to Teenage Dream from Katy Perry, and the great thing about that song was that it started off slowly, so it didn’t just blast me awake from my sleep! Hearing your favourite tune first thing in the morning is one of the best ways to wake up happy!

2 Having a Clean Floor

This may seem odd, but you most definitely cannot wake up happy if you hop out of bed and step on a book or your car keys. I slowly trudge to the bathroom every single morning and whenever I stumble on my laptop cord, my mood definitely doesn’t make me any happier to be awake! Keeping the area around your bed clutter free is definitely one of the best ways to wake up happy.

3 Sleep Early

Of all the ways to wake up happy, getting enough sleep is one of them. When your body gets enough sleep, you feel much better and more refreshed when you wake up. This means you feel ready to take on the day and not mull over the crappy traffic or the weather, because you know you’re on top of it and ready to go into work or school with gusto!

4 Getting a Morning Text

This goes for sending one out too! Of all the ways to wake up happy, getting a morning text never fails for me! I’m a lucky girl; every morning I wake up and I can’t wait to hear my phone ding with a message alert because I know my man has sent me a text and I can’t wait to read it! And on the days that I’m up before him (rare as they are) I’m excited for him to wake up to a cute little message that I’ve left him! Give it a shot with your other half or your bestie. I promise you’ll be excited to get up in the morning!

5 Prepare the Night before

This goes for your outfit, your lunch, your purse, everything you need to make sure that you have a smooth morning! I used to run around frantically looking for my keys, try to figure out what to wear, panic because I realized I forgot to make a lunch – it sucked. But as soon as I laid my outfits out the night before and put everything near the door so I could easily grab them on the way out, my mornings went a lot smoother! Being prepared is one of the smartest ways to wake up happy.

6 Find Your Favourite Shower Scent

I’m not a fan of showering in the morning because I prefer my sleep! But one of the ways to wake up happy every morning is by letting your senses wake up with you. If you love the smell of peaches, why not find the best peach scented body wash to lather yourself up in at the start of each day? Not only will it make you feel pampered, your mood will instantly lift smelling your favourite scent!

7 Frame Your Favourite Memory

Some things have a way of always making us smile, and if you’re lucky enough to have captured it on camera, why not frame it and put it on your beside table? One of the best ways to wake up happy is to know what you’re waking up for. Whether it’s to work and save up for that awesome annual girls trip to Cabo, or so you can move to Italy one day and study architecture, knowing what you’re working towards every day will give you a sense of accomplishment, and nothing is as good a mood booster as feeling good about yourself!

As the days get shorter and the hours of sunlight seem to be slowly creeping away from us, it can get a little tough to wake up in the morning! The best way to think about it is now that you’re up; there are so many things to look forward to in your day! You may not know what it is, but if you’re lucky enough to wake up to whatever makes you smile, it makes all that much of a difference in your day.
