1. Prevent Procrastination

If you have an essay to write, get it done so that you have free time later. When people procrastinate, they usually do things that aren't very productive, like browse the internet. If you absolutely have to procrastinate, at least do something useful like whip up a new recipe or call an old friend to get back in touch.

2. Sleep a Sufficient Amount

If you're only getting three hours of sleep each night, you shouldn't cut it back to two hours so that you have more time in a day. However, it's healthiest to get around eight hours of sleep, so if you've been getting nine or ten, wake up earlier. You don't want to spend valuable time unconscious.

3. Get It Right the First round

If you're taking a difficult class, study for the tests and make sure that you pass the first time around. If you fail, then you'll have to take the class again, which will waste weeks of your life. It's better to do it right the first time than to be forced to redo the same thing over and over again.

4. Take Advantage of Your Chances to Choose

You don't have to do anything that you don't want to do. If you get invited to a party that you know you'll hate, don't go. You have the right to turn down the invitation, because you shouldn't waste your life fulfilling social obligations that you really don't care about.

5. Set a Schedule

Time management is one of the most important skills that you could ever learn. If you have dozens of assignments to complete, sit down and plan out when you're going to do them. If you know exactly what you'll be doing at what time, then you won't miss a deadline. Plus, you'll be able to make plans with your friends without having to cancel at the last second.

6. Figure out Your Future

The sooner you know what you want out of life, the sooner you can get it. You don't want to waste years trying to get a medical degree, only to realize that you'd rather work in the business world. Figure out what you want as soon as you can, so that you don't waste your valuable time working toward something else.

7. Waste It with Fun

When you have free time, waste it right. Go out with your friends and have the time of your life. Or, if you prefer to be alone, cozy up with your pup and read a book. Do whatever makes you the happiest, because wasted time isn't really wasted when you're doing something fun!

Your time is valuable, so you need to use it wisely. You don't want to live a life that you hate when you have the opportunity to make it one you love! What do you do in order to make your days feel like they're not a waste?
