If you want to be happier, you need to open yourself up to new opportunities. Too many people find comfort in their routine and refuse to change it, no matter what. However, that's one of the worst ways to live, because while you'll be content, you could always be happier. Here are some of the thing that you should be more open to doing if you want to live a happier life:
1. Talking to Different People
When you go to a party, don't stick around your friends. Mingle with strangers instead. When you're at the supermarket, start a conversation with the person on line in front of you. There are so many amazing people out there, so you never know when you could meet someone who will change your life. Don't let a potential boyfriend or buddy walk by without introducing yourself.
2. Driving Long Distances
Some people aim to get a job that's close to their house and turn down party invitations that require them to travel long distances. However, if you stay within a ten mile radius of your house, life won't be all that exciting. Don't be afraid to land a job that requires you to take an hourlong train ride to get there. Don't turn down a night of fun at your friend's wedding, just because it's in another state that'll take a few hours to get to. The travel time will be worth it.
3. Rearranging Your Schedule
Some people like to create a schedule and stick to it. However, unexpected things pop up in life that you can't plan for. If your friends ask you to go out on a night you usually stay in and watch TV, don't be afraid to rearrange your schedule. If you always stick to it, you could miss out on some fun times.
4. Helping Others out
When a friend asks you to help them move, don't immediately shut them down. If you have the time to help someone in need, why not do it? Being nice will make you feel nice. Plus, they'll owe you a favor in the future.
5. Avoiding Your Anger
It sounds simple, but try to smile more and get angry less. When you see a mean Youtube comment, ignore it. When you walk past an enemy, don't make eye contact. If you know something is going to make you angry, avoid it. It's not always as simple as that, but it can be.
6. Learning New Lessons
If you want to learn how to dance or play an instrument, go for it! You're never too old to learn something new. Stop making up excuses for why you don't really need to learn a new talent. Do it anyway.
7. Letting Yourself Love
Some people are scared of relationships, and for good reason. It's terrifying to open your heart up to someone who could stomp on it. However, you could end up happiest when you're with the love of your life. That means that, as scared as you are, you need to be open to dating and letting men into your life.
If you want to be happier, you need to take risks and be open to new things. If you're not, then you could miss out on some of the What's the most recent thing you've done that was out of your comfort zone?
