1. Thinking That You Can Change Other People
Thinking that you can change other people is definitely one of the most important toxic thoughts you need to drop in order to be happy. No matter how hard you try and no matter what you do, you just can’t change others. You don’t have the right to change anyone, just like others don’t have the right to change you. The best thing you can do if those people are really important to you and if you really care about them is to accept them as they are and to be there by their side, no matter what decision they make.
2. Thinking That You Are a Victim
You are never a victim; you may feel this way sometimes, but this is just a natural passing feeling. Try not to blame others or different situations for your problems. You are the one who can solve them and if you put a lot of effort into it, you will feel better in no time. The world isn’t against you; the only things that prevents you from being happy and enjoying the beautiful things around you are your attitude and your perception of life in general. Try to think in a more positive way and if you want to change something in your life, then take some action and do it!
Frequently asked questions
3. Thinking Other People Don’t like You
No matter what you do, there are people who won’t like you. You just can’t please everyone no matter how hard you try. Still, you shouldn’t let this thought bring you down and you shouldn’t let other people affect the way you feel about yourself. You will encounter people who will not like you, and sometimes they will do it for no good reason at all. If you seek the love and approval of everyone you meet, you will set yourself up for disappointment. Try to realize what a wonderful person you are and don’t be so hard on yourself! You are the one who should be content with your actions. As long as you don’t regret anything you do or say, what other people think of you should not matter.
4. Worrying about the Future
It’s okay to think about your future every now and then, and to wonder how it will be. But make sure you don’t turn this curiosity into an obsession. If you constantly worry about the future, you will only sabotage yourself, because you won’t be able to focus on your tasks. You might not even be able to reach your goals, since you will be extremely stressed and exhausted from all those worries. While I did my research for this article I came across a very famous saying, which perfectly illustrates what I intended to write at this point: “Worrying is like praying for what you don’t want.”
5. Believing That Your past Determines Your Future
Of course, sometimes your past might influence your future but only to a certain degree. What will you do next is up to you. Just because you don’t come from a wealthy family and didn’t have a wealthy upbringing or you’ve made a couple of mistakes in your past, that doesn’t mean that you won’t be successful in the future. You can achieve anything if you are willing to work hard enough and have enough patience. Always have a positive attitude and never give up, no matter how many obstacles you might encounter in your path. You have the resources to overcome them, so just believe in yourself and keep going!

6. Thinking That You Need to Have Money to Be Happy
No matter what you might think sometimes or what others may tell you, money does not equal happiness. Of course, if you are rich, you might have a couple of extra benefits but that doesn’t mean that you can buy happiness, because that is a state that comes from within. Having money is nice but it doesn’t guarantee that you’ll be happy. Only you can do that, so let go of this toxic thought and try to enjoy life’s little pleasures.
7. Thinking That You Need to Be Perfect
Try to let go of your desire to be perfect, so you can really be happy! Nobody’s perfect and neither are you, no matter how hard you try. We are only human, after all, and we all make mistakes. The important thing is to learn from them, so we don’t repeat them in the future. Don’t be afraid to fail, because failure can actually be the best teacher you’ll ever have.
I’m sure that there are a lot of toxic thoughts that go through your mind every day, because the same thing happens to me too. The important thing is to try to control them, so they won’t interfere with your happiness or prevent you from reaching your goals.
