It's the Little Things That Count 9 Things to Celebrate when Life's Got You down ...

When I was younger, I thought I had my life all figured out. I knew I was going to write 🖋 for a living, become a published author 📚 and maybe even find love 💕 along the way. I didn't know how or when it would happen, just that everything would eventually fall into place.

But no one warned me about the bumps in the road I'd have to face in order to get there (only one out of three of those things has happened 😓!). Your 20s is arguably one of the toughest periods of your life; there are so many expectations that come with being a twentysomething that getting over the feeling of drowning under stress becomes an everyday battle 😟. You're an adult now but you still feel like a kid when it comes to making those life-changing decisions like where to go for grad school or whether or not you should accept that job.

Even though it can be hard, you should give yourself a little credit. All of your mistakes and decisions have brought you to this moment. When you find yourself questioning your accomplishments, take a look at this list and gain some perspective on just how far you've come 👏🎇👐!

1. You're a Goal Setter. ✔️☑️

Whether they're short or long term, you have an idea of what you want to accomplish. You may not have an exact plan on how you'll tackle these goals, but the fact that you actively took the time to plan out your future speaks volumes.

2. Forget N🚫 New Friends, You've Formed Genuine Friendships with New People

Now that you're an adult, making a real connection with someone new isn't as simple as bumping into someone on the playground. We're so used to making friends at school and at work that we don't appreciate just how big it is to connect with someone outside of those venues.

3. Signing up for a New Class/finding a New Hobby 💃🎶

You finally joined that fitness 💪 class you've been dying to try. Or you decided to pursue your passion and take a few acting classes on the side. Whatever your new hobby, dedicating time to explore your wants and needs is necessary.

5. Breaking up with Your Toxic Job 👋

Even though it's hard to fall without your safety net - especially when you have financial responsibilities - staying in a toxic work environment has a mental and emotional cost.

6. Saying Goodbye 👋✌️ to Your Toxic Relationship 💔

You were stuck in a relationship that caused you more pain than happiness so you finally let go. It hurts a lot right now, but in time you'll see that the right person will motivate you and root for your success, not hold you back 👎. #BoyBye

7. Booking a Doctor's Appointment 🏥😷 on Your Own

There are some things that I wish I never had to stop relying on my mom to do, even though I'm an adult. For some reason, having to make a doctor's appointment always gives me anxiety; it doesn't matter if it's for the smallest thing (I've also worked in a doctor's office before!). So pat yourself on the back for this one.

8. Paying off Your Student Loans 💲💸 (sloooowly 🐌 but Surely)

Post college, there's no greater (or worse) feeling in the world than setting aside money to pay off your loans. Sure, a part of you dies every time you see that negative balance in your bank account. But just think about how happy you'll be when you're FINALLY debt free!

9. Scheduling in Some Much Needed "Me Time" 💁👸

Whether it's making a home cooked meal for yourself or binge-watching Jessica Jones alone, you've managed to set aside time for yourself. This may not seem huge but it's really important because you're finally spending some time getting to know yourself and what you need to be happy.

I want to be an inflatable pink flamingo when I grow up. They seem to have a lot of fun... 😉
