Intentions to Set for Yourself ...

Do you need some intentions to set yourself? In the English language that I know many of us are so proud of, intention and motivation are used almost interchangeably. Do people really think they mean the same thing? When looked at in a new way you can find very obvious and important differences. The main difference is deliberateness.

Our motivation is the soul reason behind any behavior. This is the source of our desire and the drive to achieve. It can be truly humble to realize that we may not even be aware of our motivations. Motivation can be either extrinsic or intrinsic. Is it coming from outside or inside a person? An example of extrinsic would be going to work everyday just to get that paycheck at the end of the month. This type of motivation comes when you feel the urge to do something in order to gain a specific reward. On the other hand, intrinsic motivation is when you simply enjoy what you are doing.

Now, having INTENTION is always deliberate, an articulation of a conscious goal. And there are some good intentions to set yourself. We set can set these intentions to keep us heading in the direction that we want to go. But, we need motivation to keep us going over the long run. If our intention is to write a book, of course we would find ourselves asking, “Why am I doing this?” Conscious or unconscious, motivation is the “why,” and the spark, behind intention.

So, set an intention for the day! Maybe it will be to practice patience and understand that sometimes you have to wait for the water to settle to truly see clearly.

Here is a list of intentions to set yourself.
