Let’s get one thing straight, class isn’t something that you are born with; it is something that you learn and develop over time! The richest person in the world could have absolutely no class, whilst someone born in total poverty and faced with walking a hard road can be the classiest person on the planet. Having class is something that we should all strive towards, because it not only reflects well on you, but also attracts people to you because they know that you are a respectful and sensible person to be around. Here are some key habits that you should cultivate if you want to be classy!
1. Time Keeping
You should strive to always be on time, no matter where you are going and no matter what you are doing. Even better, those who are ten minutes early to events and appointments always come across as more considerate and classy people. One of the worst things in the world is making people wait for you. It means that they can’t get on with their day because of your selfish nature!
2. Keep Promises
If you tell somebody that you are going to do something for them, or you give your word that you will complete a certain task by a certain time, make sure to uphold those promises. Going back on promises and making a habit out of being flaky and unreliable is the exact opposite kind of attitude to someone who holds themselves with class and dignity.
3. Finish the Job
Always make the effort to finish what you start, and that applies to everything in life from the small things to the big things. Don’t leave your dishes dirty at night before you go to bed because that will only stack up, and don’t become a stranger to that gym that you paid a huge annual fee to join. Get into the habit of keeping up appearances and seeing things through to the end!
4. Good Posture
I’ve never seen a truly classy person with a bad posture! If you get into the habit of holding your head high with a strong back and strong shoulders, you will ooze a kind of strong and sophisticated power that comes across as super classy.
5. Good Hygiene
Having good personal hygiene is not only good for you but it is good for everyone around you! To achieve a status of true class, you should be pristine and fresh whenever you are in the presence of friends, family and colleagues. We can all have our lazy, non-shower days when we know that we are going to be left to our own devices, but when it is time to be out in public, you need to be fresh and fragrant!
Being polite to friends and strangers alike will always give you an air of class. Remember to say the simple things like please and thank you when they are needed, and work on your etiquette skills like chewing with your mouth closed, no elbows on the table, etc!
7. Be Positive
No one likes someone who is always moaning and griping, especially if you are always complaining about how worse off you are than others and making comparisons about people you think have better or more things than you. There is no class in spreading negative energy.
