5 Coping πŸ™ Mechanisms to Use when Life 🌎 Becomes Too Much 😭 ...

At times life can get overwhelming and it can be hard to find healthy ways to cope with everything that’s going on. That's when you need coping mechanisms for when you're overwhelmed. Sometimes we tend to shut down and procrastinate on anything that we’re currently doing because we feel that what’s going on around us is controlling our lives. Recently I have been feeling quite overwhelmed with 5 different things that are happening all at once. So here are some coping mechanisms for when you're overwhelmed.

1. Take It One Day at a Time

(Your reaction) Thank you!

It’s important to remember that we don’t have to take in all of the information in one sitting. It’s best to split up the workloads and take it one step at a time. Do a little bit of what you have to do each day. Only focus on the present and what you’re going to do now. Don’t stress yourself out by jumping ahead to an unseen future. Stressing about the future won’t make the present any. If not you will be miserable. Taking it one day at a time is the single best of the coping mechanisms for when you're overwhelmed.

2. Talk to Someone about How You’re Feeling

(Your reaction) Thank you!

If you aren’t doing okay in life, it’s always good to find someone to confide in. Let them know how you’ve been feeling and see what they have to say about the situation that you’re in. It’s important to remember that you aren’t alone in everything that is happening. People are more than willing to sit down and listen, especially when it’s someone who truly cares about you. It’s okay to not be okay and to ask others for some help and moral support.

3. Go for a Walk or Run

(Your reaction) Thank you!

Exercise in any shape or form is great for reducing high levels of stress. Take a breather and go outside and walk around or even go run. Use this time to yourself to reflect on everything and let your mind and body feel relaxed and not so strained. It’s not healthy to always have extreme levels of stress. Getting our bodies moving helps get our minds going and it helps us to think more rationally.

4. Write Your Feelings down

(Your reaction) Thank you!

If you feel like it’s the end of your world then write it all down. Writing out your raw thoughts and emotions is crucial. It helps you get the negative emotions out of your system, and it allows us to contemplate what’s going on and what the big picture is in the scheme of things. If you can get things off your chest you’ll be better off, and more able to focus on things that are more important and things that actually make you happy.

5. Don’t Forget to Breathe

(Your reaction) Thank you!

When we get caught up in our lives we often forget to stop and take deep breaths. This simple action can have an impact on how you’re feeling. Getting oxygen to the brain is important and by taking deep breaths, we are able to slow down and think about how our bodies are actually functioning. Stress really hinders our mind and body and it’s important to not neglect taking deep breaths when they’re needed the most.
