I love quotes and there are some fabulous and inspirational quotes about education to learn from, which I would like to share. You could probably argue that most quotes are educational to a certain extent, as they teach us something about the world around us or ourselves. There are however, some quotes which are specifically about the power of education and learning and these are the ones I would like to share with you. Fear not, these are not just quotes about 'schooling' in the conventional sense; they are quotes about the broader meaning of the word and are some of my favorite quotes about education.

Ok, this is one of my favorite quotes about education but is also scares me slightly as it reminds me of the responsibility a teacher has in terms of their effect on a student. We all affect those around us but teachers in particular are remembered. For example, which teachers can you remember from school and why do you remember them? Yeah, I knew you would think of one quite quickly! A teacher really can have a profound effect on a student. I can remember teachers good and bad from school and I can even remember things that they have said. It makes me sometimes think twice before speaking. Thank goodness for my inner filter!

Knowledge and wisdom. What's the difference? I love this quote because it demonstrates the importance of living and gaining experience. Whilst knowledge is something we can gain through reading books and studying, wisdom is something that can only be gained with age and through life experience... or so a wise old man once said!

I love this quote. I think it's so important to actually be involved in order to truly understand and to learn. I think this resonates with me in particular because of my teaching. Obviously there's a limit as to how much you can 'involve' the people that you want to teach but I like its focus on the importance of being an active participant in life, rather than being a passive observer.
4. Mark Twain
I love Mark Twain for his writing and his incredibly insightful quotes. This quote is very true and is a reminder of the need to ignore anyone who says you can't do something. Ignore those who say that your dreams are silly and unattainable and let them spur you on even more. It's true! The great people who are comfortable and happy in themselves will not feel threatened by you achieving your dreams, whereas the 'smaller' ones will laugh and belittle you, mainly because they have never had the courage to pursue their own!

Oh the silly things. I have done many! But I have no regrets because I've learnt from them all. Silly things lead to intelligent things much of the time. So don't be afraid and don't berate yourself if you have done something which you now think was a little bit silly. The silliest thing would be to do something silly, know it was silly and then do that silly thing again...Now that WOULD be really silly!

Mark Twain again. Sorry but I think the man was a genius and again, what a wonderful quote. Schooling and education are not always synonymous. Life itself is an education and all the people we meet in the process are our teachers. Our teachers are not necessarily the ones standing at the front of the classroom. They're the people we meet every day - our friends and relatives too. I sometimes think the world is one big classroom... Sorry if that instils an element of fear in some of you but that's just the way my random mind works!

Just as life is a journey, education is a journey too. This quote really demonstrates how actually the more you learn, the more you begin to understand that there is so much that you don't know - It's a never ending journey. The more I learn the more I realize I know so little... Which is slightly depressing but motivating at the same time and it spurs me on to find out more.
Quotes about education are insightful and inspirational. Which quotes about education and learning do you love? I'd love to hear them.
