We all need some ways to deal with rejection. Rejection comes in many forms, from a break-up to failing a job interview. Coping with rejection is never easy, but is something we will all inevitably encounter. Here are some ways to deal with rejection next time it happens to you.
Rejection can be devastating, and while it’s perfectly normal to get emotional, try not to break down. Being sad is normal, but darker thoughts are a sign you should seek immediate medical help. In fact, seeing a good therapist is one of the best ways to deal with rejection.
It can be tempting to grab several bottles of wine and drink until you can’t remember why you’re sad, but this a short-term solution and won’t make anything better. Maybe have a drink or two, but try not to go overboard.
Try and distract yourself; play a game or go for a run. Allow yourself to grieve, but don’t wallow in it. You’ll only feel worse.
We all take rejection personally, but it usually isn’t. Romantically, your partner is focusing more on themselves than you. Professionally, they care more about the company. It’s not a personal attack on you.
It can be tempting to lock yourself in your room and never leave, but chances are you have friends and family who will be there for you. Surround yourself with people who genuinely care, and you’ll feel better in no time.
Take a bubble bath and order pizza. The diet can wait.

Once you’ve calmed down, it’s time to seek feedback. Focus on the why. Why were you rejected and how can you take this on board for next time.
