There are many valuable lessons life teaches us along the way, and whilst life often throws us a curve ball, it is through these experiences that we grow and become better versions of ourselves. Not all lessons are bad ones though. In fact, everything can be turned into a positive one way or another. So here are some lessons life teaches us as we travel along its long and winding road.

1. You Can't Please All the People All the Time
Trying to please everyone is difficult - and impossible, I might add. Whether it's with family, friends or colleagues, you're probably as guilty as me of trying to keep everyone happy, and we women are much more likely than men to try and be the peace keepers. Truth is, this is pretty hard. Some people are just beyond pleasing. One of those lessons life teaches us is to just please yourself that little bit more!
2. F.R.I.E.N.D.S
When friends grow apart, it can be hard to deal with. After all, you guys have been BFFs for so long; how can it end now?! The truth is that's just life. People move on and find different paths that may not include you. Embracing the fact that like everything in life, friendships also have a life cycle and sometimes an expiration date, can make you feel more at peace with yourself.
Frequently asked questions
3. Why Don't You like Me?
This is one of those bitter life-lesson pills that can be tough to swallow and if you like being liked, it's even tougher! Sometimes, people aren't going to like you. It's nothing you've done or said to them. Maybe your face doesn't fit, or you might just remind them of someone that did them wrong in the past. Whatever it is, coming to terms with this fact in life can make you feel so much more at ease. After all, they're the ones missing out!
4. It's Nothing Personal
It can be so easy to take things personally in life. But one of the lessons life can teach you is that the world doesn't revolve around you. It's not personal that you didn't get that job or that something didn't go quite the way you expected or planned, it's just one of those things that happens in life.
5. Money Money Money
Saving money is another valuable life lesson. You don't know when you're going to need it, and saving for that proverbial pluvial day will mean you'll be able to weather the financial storms ahead. Not relying on others and being financially independent means the power is all in your hands too. This can be very liberating, and it's one of those life lessons that people sometimes learn the hard way by getting into too much debt.
6. We Are Family
Family is important, and whilst it can be easy to take the people who we think are always going to be around for granted, valuing family is so important, especially where the more elderly members of the family are concerned. We think that Grandma and Gramps have been around forever and that they're likely to stick around for longer. Unfortunately this isn't true, so one lesson I have learnt is to value the precious time I have with my loved ones. After all, young or old, none of us know how much longer we have.
7. Don't Burn Bridges
This is another one of those important life lessons. We meet lots of people in life and you never know when you're going to meet again or indeed, when you might need them. Fall outs and fights are inevitable, but burning bridges means it might be difficult to get to a place you want to be, and all because there is that one person who has the capacity to allow you back over to the other side. Keep those bridges sturdy, as you never know when you're going to need to travel back over them.
These are just a few valuable life lessons and I'm sure I'll learn so many more as I travel along life's winding paths. What valuable life lessons have you learnt?
