In an ideal world, we would go through life without having to come across difficult situations and obstacles that have the potential to upset us and cause us stress. As you get older and become independent adults, you start to realise that this just isn’t possible. We all come across negative and unfortunate factors in life, and it’s not ignoring the experience that defines you; it’s how you can stand up to it and deal with it in a productive and mature manner. Here is a list of some of the uncomfortable things you must deal with head on for a comfortable life.
1. Embrace Your Doubt
Absolutely no one in the world goes through life without experiencing periods of doubt about their path and their decisions. The trick is not to ignore the doubt, but to listen to it and see whether your gut is trying to tell you something that your head hasn’t figure out yet. Never be afraid to seek answers when you are doubtful over something.
2. Be Honest
Honesty is always the best policy, even if that means having to reveal some unfortunate truths along the way. The more secrets and lies you have to carry with you, the more stressful and heavy your life is going to be. Be as honest towards other people as you would like them to be towards you.
3. Slow down
You might be scared by the prospect of having nothing to do, or not having a defined path set out for the first time, but sometimes you need to slow down and take a second to be able to clearly see where you are going. Find your inner calm and stop thinking four or five moves ahead of where you are actually are.
4. Get up Early
This is a solid piece of adult advice that lots of young people want to ignore for as long as they can! Those extra hours in bed might feel good in the moment, but you won’t be happy when you are trying to fit in an entire days’ worth of activity in to just an afternoon. Commit to getting up early every day and you will find that your routine becomes much more pleasant.
5. Be Creative
We can’t always afford the things that we want the most in life, but if you can find ways to be creative and make for yourself instead of paying lots of money, you might be surprised by how close you can get to the real thing!
6. One Thing at a Time
You might want to try to be all things to all people at once, but you will have a much better time of things if you can accept that you need to take everything one step at a time.
7. Get off Your Phone
Hey! You! There is an actual real world right in front of you, filled with real people and real relationships. You might notice it better if you can tear yourself away from your phone screen more often.
