I have always loved this quote. I truly believe in the power of reading and although this is often used as a quote about travel, I like to think of it in a slightly different way. Travel is physical but I think Dr. Seuss is also telling us that through reading and learning we can travel in a non-physical manner. Books and learning can take us to so many places without even having to leave the couch.

The man who had an immense influence on the development of western art lived until the age of 89. At the age of 87 he is quoted as saying “I’m still learning”. Learning is a process that should never stop. Many great names have uttered similar sentiments – like Einstein who said “Once you stop learning, you start dying” and Henry Ford who said “Anyone who stops leaning is old, whether at twenty or eighty. Anyone who keeps learning stays young.”
