It’s extremely important to find different ways to cultivate more love in life if your goal is to live a happy, meaningful and fulfilled life. Nowadays, with all these distractions around us, it’s pretty hard to focus on our own needs, and that’s why we often tend to neglect ourselves. Just like Mary Dunbar said: “We are each gifted in a unique and important way. It is our privilege and our adventure to discover our own special light.” Self-care is essential to our health and to our own happiness. It’s not selfish to think of yourself every now and then, to do those things you enjoy, basically to put yourself first every once in a while. Here are a few very simple ways to cultivate more love in life that will help you interact more completely with yourself:

1. Take a Technology Detox
One of the easiest ways to cultivate more love in life is by taking a technology detox for at least 24 hours. You can do this longer if you want, but a day should be enough to help you focus on your own needs, to remind you of your dreams and to help you meditate on who you are and what you want. Just unplug your Internet cable, turn off your phone and turn down your TV. You won’t miss anything, I promise you. You can get yourself up-to-date with everything tomorrow; today just relax and enjoy yourself!
2. Put Love in Everything That You do
Try to embody love in everything that you do, no matter how small or insignificant that thing might seem sometimes. Be passionate about every little thing that you do, whether you’re brushing your teeth or taking care of different tasks! Just give more attention to each task at hand and always try to do your best! The more love you put into what you are doing, the happier you will be.

3. Meditate
I’m sure you all know that 10 minutes of meditation every day can do wonders. It will help you feel less stressed, more relaxed and it will help you find the strength to overcome all the obstacles that might appear in your path. Just sit down, take a few deep breaths and empty your mind. Let go of all the worries you’ve accumulate during the day and practice meditation to release you of your anxieties. This way, you will learn how to cultivate more love and compassion in your life and you will focus on the things that really matter to you.
4. Be Compassionate
Be compassionate and accept others just the way they are. You should do the same with yourself too! Don’t be your own worst critic and don’t sabotage your own happiness! Put yourself in other people’s shoes and try to understand their actions, even if you don’t agree with them. Just remember that we are all different and that we all see things from our own perspective.
5. Be Grateful!
Be grateful for everything that you have and learn to appreciate your strengths and your gifts! Practice gratitude and you will focus more on the positive things in your life. Just realize how lucky you are just for being yourself. You are truly blessed, so remind yourself of that more often and cultivate more love in your life! Malcolm S. Forbes once said that “Too many people overvalue what they are not and undervalue what they are,” and he couldn’t be more right!
6. Nurture Your Dreams
Never give up on what you are doing! If it’s really important to you, then do your best and make it happen! Nurture your dreams, focus your mind on what you want, fill yourself with positive affirmations, encourage yourself and you will achieve all your dreams. Don’t be afraid to dream big! Have faith in your abilities and you will be successful in everything that you do!
7. See the Beauty around You!
Always try to see the beauty around you! If you choose to focus on the positive things in life, you will be able to cultivate more love and compassion around you, you will bring joy to other people and you will make yourself happy as well. Be present and acknowledge all the beautiful things around you. You can really find happiness in the little things since true beauty lies in simplicity.
I couldn’t agree more with Buddha, who said, “You must love yourself before you love another. By accepting yourself and fully being what you are, your simple presence can make others happy. You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.” Do you know any other ways to cultivate more love in life?
