1. Be Patient
Patience tops this list of ways to get what you want in life because most great things don't happen over night. Whatever it is that you want, you are going to have to be okay with it taking time. Never despise small beginnings because the time in between deciding what you want and getting it is vital to you keeping it once it actually happens.
2. Put in the Work
When I first moved to Los Angeles, a mentor of mine told me that I had what it took to make my dreams come true but I would have to be willing to put in the work. To be honest, I didn't totally get what he was saying at the time but I do now. I once heard that it takes 10,000 hours to master anything. That's a lot of time, ladies! You may not need to invest 10,000 hours of your life into getting what you want, but you will need to put in the necessary work to get it. Besides, when you work for something, you appreciate it so much more.
Frequently asked questions
3. Be Specific
A few months ago I was talking to a friend and she was going on and on about all of the dreams she had that would come true. I asked her to share her dreams and she couldn't. It wasn't that she was too shy to share them with me. She wasn't able to narrow her focus down to anything solid once I asked her what her dreams actually were. You can't get what you want if you don't know what you want. Take some time to really think about what you want and be as specific as possible. This will help you turn your dreams into attainable goals.
4. Be Nice
Despite the rumors, you don't have to step over people or be cutthroat to get what you want out of life. Sure, you will need to be assertive, but you should also be nice to people. You never know who a person is or who they will be one day when you meet them, and you don't want to burn bridges. When you are genuinely nice to people they will remember your kindness and that can help you in the greater picture.
5. Be Yourself
There is only one of you! It doesn't matter how many other women have your hair or eye color or your name, there is only one you. You have to hold onto that fact for dear life. I had the chance to watch several audition tapes with a casting director once. All of the women auditioning were in the same age range and had the same hair color. So how in the world were they able to choose only one, once the less talented women were cut? It was narrowed down to personality that came through the lens. The women who knew who they were and were confident in their identity shined like stars and you couldn't help but to want them to succeed in life. The same goes for you ladies!

6. Direct & Bold
This goes back to being assertive in order to get what you want in life. There is nothing wrong with being direct when you need to ask for what you want. Boldness will carry you through until you get what you are seeking. You may feel your knees shaking under your skirt and that's okay. But decide in your heart to boldly go after what you want and you will find that your confidence and courage will multiply many times over. Don't be afraid to speak up, ladies!
7. Perseverance
Once you decide what it is you want in life, don't give up! Trust me, there will be many times you feel like walking away from the desires of your heart. However, if you hold onto perseverance and remain persistent, the seeds you have planted along the way will begin to blossom. One day a door will open for you and you will actually get what you worked hard for and believed in. But you can't give up.
Do you know what you want out of life? What are the dreams in your heart? I'd love to hear your thoughts on this and what your experience has been like.
