1. Laughter

Laughter is one of the best things in life to appreciate! Whether you are listening to the sound of a child’s laughter, or laughing along with your family and friends, your mood can instantly brighten with laughter. It’s nice having someone who always knows just what to say to bring a smile to your face!

2. Hugs and Kisses

I’m pretty sure life would be lonely without hugs and kisses. If you live alone, or don’t have a significant other, take the time to hug other family members or close friends. And we all know that sneaking in a smooch here and there does wonders to reduce stress and lighten your mood!

Frequently asked questions

3. Sunshine

I love rainy days. They are relaxing, and they bring water to the earth. But nothing beats the sunshine! Getting out and soaking up the rays when you can is a great idea. And who doesn’t like a lazy summer day spent in the sunshine?

4. Eating Dessert

Some people may not agree with me, since desserts are often calorie laden! But we all need to indulge every now and then. Giving in to a sweet craving, or enjoying that second slice of cake is perfectly fine as long as you don’t do it three times a day, every day!

5. Holding a Baby

What can be sweeter than a precious baby? Not much, that’s for sure! Babies are a reminder of life, love, and innocence. Getting to hold a sweet little bundle of joy is something to be appreciated in life no matter who you are!

6. Getting a Day off

Those of us who work long or crazy hours, or rarely take vacation days can really appreciate getting a day off! It’s nice to just have a whole day with nothing to do and nowhere to be. When you get a day off, make sure you use it to relax, and do what YOU want to do.

7. Catching up with Friends

How many times have you looked through your texts only to realize that you haven’t had an actual conversation in person with your closest friends in quite some time? It happens to all of us! Life just gets in the way sometimes. Enjoy those times you do have face-to-face contact, or make time to chat on the phone if visiting isn’t possible.

8. Making Someone else Happy

Have you ever heard the saying “It’s better to give than to receive”? We all love presents, but nothing compares to making someone else’s day. Whether it’s by the words you say, a deed you accomplish, or a little gift you drop by, making someone else happy is sure to be one of the things in life to appreciate!

9. Finding Something You Lost

I hate misplacing my stuff. It drives me crazy! Finding something you thought you had “lost” is really something to appreciate. Especially if it’s a necessary, costly or valuable item!

10. Receiving Flowers

I love it when my husband surprises me with flowers for no reason. Flowers seem to be one of the universal ways of saying “You mean a lot to me.” Remember to appreciate little things like receiving flowers for no reason at all!

The little things in life can be easy to take for granted, but I hope this list is a reminder to stop and treasure even the seemingly small things. Remember, all it takes is a smile and a kind word to make your day better in a flash! What are some of the small things in life you love to appreciate?
