1

Understand Why You Are Always Late

One of the most useful tips to arrive on time that I can give you is to tell you to try to determine why you are always running late. Do you sleep too much? Do you often underestimate the commute time? Do you tend to procrastinate a lot? Try to discover the cause of your constant delay and do something to fix it.

2

Get Enough Sleep

If you want to be on time, then make sure you get enough sleep, because this way, you will feel more rested in the morning and you will have more energy when you wake up. If you tend to sleep late in the morning, then make an effort and go to bed a little earlier, since sufficient sleep is essential for maximum brain function.

3

Figure out How Long It Takes You to Get There

Try to figure out as realistically as possible how long it takes you to get there, since you might underestimate the importance of certain aspects, like the amount of time you’ll have to wait for the bus or that you might be stuck in traffic for a couple of minutes. Try to include some extra minutes in your schedule because you never know what might happen and what might make you arrive late on your meeting.

4

Be 15 Minutes Early for Everything

Make a habit out of being 15 minutes early for everything. This way, you will always be on time even with those little and extremely annoying interruptions. Therefore, you will not arrive late, even if you are stuck in a traffic jam and even if your bus does not arrive on time.

5

Keep Organized

Try to always stay organized since apparently, disorganization is directly related to lateness. Just think about it: how often were you late because you couldn’t find your keys/ wallet/ phone etc? Just try to keep the things you use every day in the same place and this way, your routines will go smoother.

Be Flexible

If your goal is to always arrive on time, then try to be as flexible as possible. If you didn’t manage to arrive within your targeted time on your first try, don’t despair and don’t give up easily. You won’t be able to develop a new habit overnight; it will take you time, effort and a lot of patience, but if you stick to your plan, you will be successful.

7

Set Your Clocks Forward by a Few Minutes

This is a very useful trick that will always help you to arrive on time. Just set all the clocks in your house forward by a few minutes and try to forget that you did it. You will see that this little psychological trick will help you beat tardiness and you’ll also avoid procrastination.

Being late for everything all the time is never fun but there are quite a few things you can do to break this bad habit. I just mentioned a few but I’m sure there are many more I could add to this list. Do you know any other tips to arrive on time that really do work? Please tell us about them in the comments section!

Where Thoughts and Opinions Converge

I do the same as Beryl. Also laying out all my clothes in the evening, prepare lunch and pack my bag before bed is a great help.

I set the alarm on my iPhone for various intervals. That gives me some idea of how the time is passing whilst getting ready and when to leave in good time.

Thanks. Simple and effective the clocks in the house. iPhone alarms are good too you can set scheduled times to anytime you need to leave. And then remind you again
