That Burn Bridges by Erin Hanson

I see your figure from across the valley,
Head down as a sign of defeat,
Hands clenched on the times you were happy,
Body sweating from the intense heat,
The flames are now as high as your kneecaps,
Thier movements reflect in your eyes,
Still easy to see from this distance,
That it takes all you have not to cry,
I could send you my voice on the breezes,
But throat is determined to choke,
Not sure if it's stuck in emotion,
Or smothered in all of this smoke,
You yell out that I should just leave you,
You'll be better once you are alone,
These fires will fight the dark winter,
That threatens to freeze all your bones,
But the cold's not the reason I'm worried,
Nor the clouds that are heavy with rain,
It's the fact that you'd rather be burning,
Than admit to the world you're in pain,
And the hurt that will come when you realise,
Once to ashes, the flames have been turned,
That there's no warmth in a fire born solely,
From all the bridges that you've burned.

The poem of harsh tribulation that somehow you have you go through, when you fight to get out of the fire, the smoke still gets to you. But the fire that is inside you that blazes through the battles you're going through, it's hard to see you're defeated and the people you fight for have given up on you. So you made that decision to build a heart of steel. It can take pounds upon pounds of smashing but that's what it needs, fire is the element need for a steel to make a weapon to hold. You wear that heart of steel made tougher by the fires being thrown at you and fought back with all your might when all you have left is your soul because you learn when to be tough or when to be soft when you should. You become a warrior, you are proud of the battles you fought for, you keep going and fight for more if that's what it takes for life to stand for. You burned bridges because it's not necessary to cross them anymore, and you keep going on to find a better place, where you can find peace but still be vigilant with what comes next.
