If signs you are taking life too seriously persist in your life, listen to the wise words of Elbert Hubbard: “Do not take life too seriously. You will never get out alive.” The rest of the world, myself included, oftentimes take life way too seriously. We get so caught up with gravity of life and our responsibilities that we forget to take things into perspective. In order to enjoy life to the fullest you can never take life, or even yourself, too seriously, so if you have the definite signs you are taking life too seriously, make some changes for the better!
How long has it been since you last took a day for yourself or went on a vacation? If it is taking you too long to even remember, that is one of the first signs you are taking life too seriously. Life shouldn’t just be about work or school, you should allow yourself to neglect responsibilities for a brief amount of time and experience what the world really has to offer. Don’t be afraid to put your everyday life on hold and make unforgettable memories.
You are your own worst critic, because you believe that you can always do better and push harder. Therefore you pack your schedule, bite off more than you can chew and challenge yourself, and while that is great for self-growth and self-improvement, you should know your limits. You don’t ALWAYS have to go an extra mile! Giving yourself time to relax and live a little won’t damage you in any way.
Depending on a situation, sometimes it is hard to let go of grudges and forgive people for what they have done. Plus it is even harder to talk about forgiveness when the wound is still fresh. However, as time goes by you should be able to forgive those who have wronged you. You let go of the negativity and learn from your experience. Trust me, you are not letting that person off easy, you are just making things better for yourself!
Every person has his or her own personality and while some are more outgoing and daring, others are more conservative and calm. However, no matter how satisfied you might be with where you are now, you should never reject the idea of doing something out of character and stepping out of your comfort zone. You only live once and you don’t want to regret not doing something you would otherwise would have never done before.
Instead of deprecating yourself for the mistakes you have made and the failure you have allowed to happen, take each day one at a time! While your failures may seem devastating at first, they aren't really as significant as they make themselves out to be. So give yourself some room for mistakes because even defeat can give you new opportunities and change you for the better.

Rules are there to guide us in the right direction. They are the basis of our society, which help us manage a safe environment and they should always be followed. However, there are other, less significant ones that can always be broken. In no way, shape or form am I encouraging you to become a criminal overnight, but I would like to urge you to stop your reliance on rules. Be creative, bend the rules and don’t be a stickler for order!
