7 Negative Thoughts That Can Hamper Your Happiness ...

Holly Oct 3, 2013

If you’re constantly thinking negative thoughts, you’re depriving yourself of happiness. It’s unhealthy to think poorly of yourself. As difficult as it is, you need to realize your worth. When you swap your pessimism for optimism, your negative thoughts will disappear.

1. Always Annoying

If you feel like you’re annoying others by talking to them, you’re going to dread starting conversations. If someone doesn’t text back right away or seems a bit distant when chatting, don’t blame yourself. Chances are that they’re busy or distracted by something totally unrelated to your conversation. One of the negative thoughts that can ruin your social life is if you think that your presence is unwanted. Don’t be afraid to text a friend or start up a conversation with a stranger. The worst they can do is ignore you.

2. Pointlessness

It’s dangerous to think that there’s no point to school, work, or your life overall. It might seem like your life is redundant, that you’re going through the same routine every day with no reward, but things will change. You’re going to find happiness one day, and everything that you’re currently going through will feel like it was worthwhile. If you feel like there’s no meaning in your life, find meaning. You need a reason to wake up everyday, even if that reason is something small, like getting to see the How I Met Your Mother finale.

3. Forever Alone

If you're single, don't fret. You're going to meet the one for you eventually. Don't let yourself believe that you're always going to be alone. If you think negatively, then it'll show when you're talking to others. If there's a guy that you like, flirt with him! Don't let your insecurities get in the way of trying to reel him in.

4. Better off

Don't get bogged down with thinking about how great other people's lives are. There are hundreds of people that have it better than you do. There are hundreds of people that have it worse than you do. Your life isn't meant to be compared. You can't even compare your current situation to your past situation. You have to focus on the present and try to prepare for an even better future.

Embrace the vibrant colors and cozy vibes of the upcoming season with your loved ones. Planning for some memorable fall family photos is a unique way to capture the warmth and love amidst the breathtaking autumnal hues. Trust me, these keepsakes would be beyond beautiful.

5. Existence Doesn't Matter

If you think that your friend group or family members wouldn't mind if you were missing, you're wrong. You bring something special to every group you're a part of. They'll be able to function without you, but that doesn't mean that they'll be happy about it. You have to believe that you're an important part of your friends' and family's lives. Even if you can't see the good in yourself, remember that the people around you love you.

6. Wondering Why

If you can't figure out why your ex left you, don't overthink the situation. If you can ask him what happened, do so. If he's not answering, then try to forget him. It can be difficult to move on without closure, but going over every moment in your relationship and re-evaluating it is unhealthy. You need to let the hurtful memories go.

7. Low on Cash

If you're craving ice cream from the truck that's driving by, go get some! The reason you're making money is so that you can spend it. This doesn't mean that you should go on spending sprees without thinking of the consequences. Be careful with your cash, but don't be afraid to spend it every once in a while. It's okay to splurge on occasion.

It may seem impossible to push away all of your negative thoughts, but you have the strength to twist your thoughts into positive ones. You'll feel a million times better once you do so. What thought do you dwell on that you know you need to push away?
