If you practise optimism, you will find that you come to problems and situations with a much more open and flexible approach, thinking much more about the bigger picture than the immediate. For example, if you are buying a new car but are worried in the short term that your friends won’t think it is fancy enough, then it could lead you to spend more money than you can afford on a better model. On the other hand, if you are a much more positive person, you won’t take the negative thoughts of your peers into consideration, thinking instead about the long-term good decision of buying one particular model over another and how it will benefit you in the future.
