1. Pretend You Are Giving Advice

Instead of thinking about the decision as it relates to you, instead, pretend that you are being asked to give advice to a friend who has the same dilemma. It might be easier to find a clear path if you picture someone else taking it rather than you, but at the end of the day, if you are suggesting a decision for a person that you love, it is probably going to be the same decision that you should be making for yourself.

2. True Needs

You need to take some time to figure out what you really want, rather than thinking about what you think you should want. Your decision might be going against the grain, but if you have come to the conclusion that it is what you truly want, then that has to be the way that you go. No decision that doesn’t encompass your true feelings is ever going to be a good one.

3. Limit Information

The more information you overload your brain with, the longer and longer is it going to take for you to make a decision. All you should be aiming to do is arm yourself with only the essential points that you need, and then deciding based on them. If you bring too many other external factors into it, there will be too many scenarios popping up and clouding your judgment.

4. Practice

As with many other things, practice makes perfect! Don’t wait to test out your decisiveness skills for only when you actually need them. Practice making decisions about things that don’t actually matter to you. Your brain will get more used to the type of processes that it takes to come to a conclusion about a situation, and because of your practice, when the time comes to make a real decision, you will feel more comfortable doing so.
