There are times in everyone’s lives that make us feel completely broken inside. You might have lost a loved one. The promotion you were supposed to get was given to someone younger with less experience. Your boss might have given your coworker credit for the presentation you worked overtime on and did completely by yourself. Don’t despair, things will get better. Here are seven things to remember when you feel you can’t go on.
Suffering can actually help us grow. When hardships come our way, it gets us ready for the future and makes us stronger.
Remember what drives you. When you wake up in the morning, what makes you smile? You have to remain grounded and continue to work, even when you have troubles, especially during troubling times.
Emotions help you get through your struggles better. If you can’t control what is happening right now, you can choose how you control your response to the situation. You will find peace if you can learn to live with your emotions.
On your darkest days, when you feel you can’t go on, you can always lean on the people who care the most about you. If you have your closest family and friends near you, you can overcome anything.
When you just can’t hold on any longer, make a list of all the good things happening in your life. It might be alone time with your favorite cup of tea. It could be curling up in front of a fire with your favorite book. It might be you running in the park with your dog.
If you have been lucky enough to find things you really love to do, don’t stop doing it. If you enjoy photography, take a walk in nature and find some interesting things to take pictures of. If you love music, put the radio on your favorite station and sing along. It doesn’t matter if you can sing or not, singing releases stress. On the days you feel completely like you can’t go on, get up and do the things you love.
This may feel like it is going to last forever, but it isn’t. It is just fleeting moment in time. It is just a tiny space of time in the grand scheme of things. You are going to emerge kinder, stronger, and more grounded than you have ever been.
