1. Create Opportunities
In We Bought a Zoo, Matt Damon says, “Sometimes all you need is twenty seconds of insane courage. Just literally twenty seconds of just embarrassing bravery. And I promise you, something great will come of it." If you like a guy, tell him. If that’s too big of a step for you, at least smile at him or strike up a conversation. Apply for your dream job and go for an interview. Even if you fail, you should be proud that you were brave enough to try. One of the biggest ways to start changing your life is by creating opportunities for yourself.
2. Better to Believe
You have to believe that you have the ability to change your life. It’s dangerous to believe that things will never get better, despite what you do. If you think your life is always going to be the same, then why would you even bother to try to change things? You have to know in your heart that you can make your situation better. If your thoughts are positive, then it will be easier to preform actions that will enhance your life.
Frequently asked questions
3. Meet and Greet
People can change your life. They can open up new sides of you or get you to do things you never thought were possible. In order to make new friends, you have to start talking to as many people as you can. Don’t be afraid of what they think of you. If you don’t get along, you move on to the next person and see if you hit it off. You can’t get to know someone without having a few conversations, so get to talking!
4. Daily Work
If you want to get fit, you have to work to see the results you want. That goes for any other aspect of life as well. If you want to be a writer, you have to write a bit each day. If you want to learn a new language, you have to study the words. You can’t expect your life to magically change. You need to work as hard as you can in order to better yourself and your life.
5. Out and about
Stop canceling plans. Even if you don’t feel like going out with your friends, do so. Whenever you’re given the chance to go out and have fun, you might as well take it. Push away your worries that it’ll be awkward and your annoyance about getting ready. Once you get out there, you could have the time of your life. You have to give it a chance.
6. Random Routes
Don’t get lunch at the same place everyday. Try out new restaurants and be friendly with the waiters. If you go to the same place all of the time, you’re bound to see the same people. By going to new locations, you’ll meet new people who could change your life. Plus, going to the same place time after time can make you feel like you’re in a rut. It’s always nice to see new scenery.
7. Figure It out
Sit down and try to figure out what you want from life. Sometimes you don’t realize exactly what you’re looking for unless you really think about it. If you can decide what the thing you want the most is, you can work to get it. Changing your life for the better requires you knowing what you do and don’t like about your current situation. Once you figure out what you want to change, you can figure out ways to do so.
If you wish your situation was different, change it! You have the power to make your life worth living. Has there ever been a person or event that has changed your life for the better?
