Worrying is a difficult habit to break. You may worry about a few certain things or you may be a chronic worrier and worry about everything in your life. Either way, worrying isn’t any fun and can ruin a perfectly good day. These’re some quotes to give you the inspiration you need to stop worrying.
“Worrying will never change the outcome.”
Most of the time, whatever is going to happen will happen. Worry doesn’t give you any kind of power to change that. We sometimes fool ourselves into believing that worrying about something will protect us but that’s simply not true. I’ve fell for that lie before, too, so you’re not alone if you believed this. Worry doesn’t affect the outcome one way or another. Also worth nothing is that most of the things you worry about never end up happening.
“Worrying is like a rocking chair. It gives you something to do but doesn’t get you anywhere.”
Worrying is a pointless way of using your mind. You tie up all this mental energy into something that doesn’t get you anything but feeling stressed out. It could also get you into a doctor’s office with stress related illnesses which isn’t good. It’s very safe to say that worry isn’t productive. It doesn’t help you in any way so why continue this unpleasant habit?
“Worrying is literally betting against yourself.”
There’s a lot of truth in this quote. Worrying is a way of being negative that’s betting against yourself. Stop the negativity and focus on more positive thoughts. Things could go well for you. In fact, the outcome of whatever you’re facing could be better than you imagined. You’re worth believing in; bet on things going well.
“What worries you, masters you.”
Worry is a battle that occurs between your ears. It’s also a personal battle that you have to fight on your own. It’s a hard battle to win but you can do it. If you give in and let worry consume you then worry wins. It has taken over and you’ve lost any hope of peace. Decide that you aren’t going to let worry master you anymore.
“Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow; it empties today of its strength.”
Worry doesn’t have any benefits. It offers you nothing of value. In fact, not only does it not give you anything, it actually takes from you. It robs you of your joy, peace and strength. But you can overcome worrying with some time and practice. Make it a point to focus your thoughts in a more positive direction when worry threatens.
“Don’t think too much. You’ll create a problem that wasn’t even there in the first place.”
Worry can take you farther than you want to go and keep you longer than you want to stay. Worry can become excessive and make you think up scenarios that’re highly unlikely to happen. It can go way beyond likely possibilities. Don’t allow your imagination to run away with you. There’s nothing positive that will come from that.
“Stop being afraid of what could go wrong and focus on what could go right.”
When you’re worrying, you’re focusing on the negative. You’re thinking about the worst case scenario. Don’t allow your mind to go there. With some practice, you can learn to choose your thoughts. Choose to think about how wonderful things could go for you.
