7 Ways to Cope when You Are Busy and Overwhelmed ...

Most of us live hectic lives but there are some ways to cope when you're super busy. We live in a society which doesn't 'switch off' or at least finds it difficult to do so and although the fact that we're constantly connected can have many benefits for all, it also means we feel the need to keep going despite the exhaustion. If your life is manic and you have managed to steal a few precious moments to look at AWS, here are some of the ways to cope when you're super busy.

1 Organize

One of the ways to cope when you're super busy is to be uber organized with your time. Look at your schedule and as far as you can, plan ahead but don't panic when the unexpected occurs - just go with it. Plan your lunches for the week and prepare them at the weekend. Also, plan what you're going to wear the next day so that you don't have to spend your busy morning throwing your clothes out of the wardrobe and onto the floor as you try to find that outfit you wanted to wear.

Being organized extends beyond just planning meals and outfits; it also involves setting priorities for your daily tasks. Start each day with a clear list of what needs to be accomplished by reviewing your to-do list and identifying the most urgent and important tasks. By doing so, you can focus on what truly matters without getting sidetracked by less critical activities. Furthermore, breaking down larger projects into smaller, more manageable steps can help you progress steadily without feeling overwhelmed. This tactic ensures that, despite your buzzing schedule, you're continuously moving forward rather than feeling stuck in chaos.

Frequently asked questions

2 Prioritize

This is another way to cope when you're super busy. Think about what needs doing and make a list of things that are urgent and things that can wait a while. It can be easy to become so overwhelmed by the amount of things that need doing but take things step by step rather than thinking about everything all at once. And as Dale Carnegie suggests, thinking in day-tight compartments really helps.

3 Delegate

I must say, I am something of a control freak and although there isn't a Control Freaks Anonymous for me to attend, I have discovered ways to tame the control freak within. I know, no one will ever be able to do anything as well as we do it, so we might as well do it ourselves. Sound familiar? Although difficult, delegating will certainly ease the stress and strain of a busy life. Relinquish control by delegating tasks to work colleagues or family members.

4 Meditate

I know what you're going to say, "I don't have time to meditate!" However, making time to meditate or at lease to sit for ten minutes a day breathing mindfully will make you feel more in control in this super busy world. It will do wonders for both your family life and work life.

5 Get Outdoors

As tempting as it might be, don't work through your lunch break. Many workaholics feel guilty for taking that well-needed break away from the desk. Stepping away from your desk will make you far more productive in the afternoon and will give you that much needed vitamin D.

6 Plan a Break

Making plans for a mini-break or a holiday can make you feel much better when you're super busy. We all need to re-charge our batteries and thinking about getting away for a few days can make you feel excited and help you to look forward to a time when you're not running around like a headless chicken!

7 Be More Mindful

Being present is important because the present moment is all that we have. The past and future exist only in our imaginations and a super busy mind which is cluttered with the guilt of the past and worry about the future is not healthy. Be present and focus on the tasks in hand.

These are just a few ways to cope when you're super busy. Can you think of any more ways?
