Learn to Humble Yourself for a Better Life ...

I’m sure a lot of you would like to learn how to be humble. These days it can be pretty hard to act in a humble way, especially when everyone encourages competition and individuality. Still, there are a lot of people who think that humility is a virtue that everyone should develop in order to make more friends and enjoy richer and more meaningful relationships with others. Just like Norman Vincent Peale said, “Believe in yourself! Have faith in your abilities! Without a humble but reasonable confidence in your own powers you cannot be successful or happy.” Here are a few very useful tips on how to be humble that you should consider if you want to develop this wonderful virtue:

1

Admit That You’re Not the Best at Everything

One of the best ways to learn how to be humble is by admitting that you are not the best at everything. You can’t be, no matter how hard you would try. People do make mistakes and so do you. I’m sure you’re very talented and that there are a few things only you can do perfectly, but keep in mind that there are other people just as talented as you, who can do amazing things too. I’m not saying you should abandon your dreams if you recognize your limitations, just don’t give up on learning new things and on improving yourself!

2

Be Grateful!

Always be grateful for what you have! Even though sometimes you wish things would be different, just try to remember how many wonderful things happen to you on a regular basis. There are a lot of people out there who are not as fortunate as you and this is not because they are not as intelligent or as hard-working as you; they just live in some country where they are surrounded by war or they might not have had such supportive parents or the chance to go to college and get a well-paid job. Always remember how lucky you are and be grateful for what you have!

3

Don’t Be Afraid to Fail!

Don’t ever be afraid to fail or to make mistakes because failure can actually be the best teacher you’ll ever have. If you want to learn how to be humble, you need to understand that you will make mistakes and that you cannot be perfect. Everyone fails sometimes; the important thing is to learn from your errors, so you won’t repeat them in the future.

UPD:

Embracing your failures opens the doorway to personal growth and resilience. Acknowledge where you went wrong, dissect the situation, and extract valuable lessons—this process is integral to cultivating humility. Remember, it's not about the fall, but the rising after. Each misstep is a step toward a more enlightened self, one that carries wisdom rather than just knowledge. Use your experiences as stepping stones to a stronger, wiser, and humbler you. After all, the most beautiful tapestries in life often come from threads of past mistakes, woven with the grace of learned humility.

4

Admit when You Are Wrong

Always admit when you are wrong and assume the consequences of your mistakes! By doing this, you will be perceived as a humble person and people will appreciate the fact that you are being honest and that you are telling the truth, no matter how unpleasant this is. Just like everyone else, you are not perfect, you can make mistakes and you should focus on improving your behavior, so you will avoid them in the future. People will respect you more if you admit your mistakes, because they will see that you are a genuine person who is not stubborn or selfish and who thinks about other people’s well-being as well.

5

Don’t Brag!

It’s okay to be proud of yourself and of your accomplishments! You worked hard to achieve your goals, so it’s natural to be happy and excited. If you want to learn how to be more humble, then try to avoid bragging, since you don’t need to do this; if you are an amazing person, people will see that, they will recognize your efforts and they will praise you for your actions. You don’t need to constantly remind people what a wonderful person you are; they can see that for themselves.

Don’t Take All the Credit!

Even if you managed to achieve a very important goal and you worked extremely hard to do it, try not to take all the credit for it, especially if there were a lot of people who have helped you do that. I’m sure there are other people who contributed to your success, so don’t forget about them! Recognize their hard work and thank them for their help. They will surely appreciate your gesture and you will definitely be more humble by doing this.

UPD:

Recognizing the contributions of others reinforces a sense of teamwork and community. When you spotlight the efforts of your collaborators, it uplifts the entire group and fosters a supportive environment. Plus, a simple thank you can go a long way—it might seem like a small act, but it's a potent one. By sharing accolades, you nurture a culture of appreciation that benefits everyone involved. Remember, humility in success is as important as resilience in failure; it shapes character and cultivates respect and trust among peers.

7

Appreciate Other People

Learn to appreciate other people, value their qualities and skills and be grateful for being able to learn from them in order to improve yourself. Avoid comparing yourself to other people, since everyone is different and even if someone might be better than you at a certain thing, that doesn’t mean that you haven’t got any other valuable skills or talents that make you unique. Just compliment other people more often and be nice to everyone around you and you will definitely be more humble!

I think that humility is a skill everyone should develop if they want to learn how to enjoy life more and how to improve their relationships with other people.
