If your conscience is tearing you apart, remember that there are things you should never feel guilty about doing. People may judge you for certain acts, but you should know that there’s nothing wrong with the way you’re living your life. In the end, your opinion is the only one that matters. If you’re having trouble sleeping at night, remember that there are things you should never feel guilty about doing.
1. Refusing to Settle
It feels crummy to break up with a boyfriend or turn down a good friend, but you have to do it. It’s wrong to lead on someone that you know isn’t right for you. One of the things you should never feel guilty about is refusing to settle in a relationship or even a friendship. It doesn’t make you ‘too picky.’ It simply shows that you know what you want, and that you won’t rest until you get it.
2. Taking a Day off
Sometimes you need to take a mental health day. You shouldn’t skip school or work every single week, but it’s okay to do it occasionally. Don’t feel bad about lounging around in your pajamas. You need to relax, so that you have enough energy to take on the rest of your days. You don’t always have to be on the move.
3. The Walk of Shame
If you’re being safe, and not breaking any hearts, there’s nothing wrong with how you spend your time. If you make-out with a hot guy one night, and then never contact him again, don’t hate yourself for it. Life is meant to be enjoyed. As long as you’re not harming anyone or hurting yourself, it’s all good.
4. Having a Snack
Even if you’re on a strict diet, you can take a few bites of junk food. Eating is one of the many joys of living. You can’t starve yourself, so you might as well let yourself eat something tasty every once in a while. This doesn’t mean that your whole diet should consist of ice cream and soda. It just means that you’re allowed to have snacks without criticizing yourself for it.
5. Caring about Something
If you’re really focused on your career or obsessed with a boyfriend, other people in your life can get frustrated. Since they want you to pay attention to them, they won’t like that your focus is directed elsewhere. Unless your obsession is unhealthy, don’t feel badly about working for too many hours or spending time with your man. It’s your life, and you get to decide what you do with your time.
6. Not Fitting Standards
If you don’t want to get married or have children, don’t fret. It’s okay if your life choices don’t involve the stereotypical female roles imposed upon us by society. Forget about what you’re expected to do, and do what you want to do. On the contrary, if you can’t wait to be a mother, that’s great! Do whatever it is that makes you happy.
7. Saying No
When your friends invite you out for a girl’s night, it’s okay to decline. You don’t want to push them out of your life, but you’re allowed to stay in if you want. Sometimes you’re just not in the mood to interact with others. It’s okay to skip out on their fun and watch Netflix.
Everyone has felt guilty over something or another, but there are certain things that don’t deserve your worry. Do you always find yourself feeling guilty about little things?
