7 Things to Be Grateful for Every Day ...

I’m sure you’re expecting to read a list of things to be grateful for every day that includes things like your friends, family and your health, but I’d like to put a different spin on things. Sure, we should totally be grateful for friends, family and our health, that we have a roof over our head and a job, but let’s dig a little deeper into things we maybe take for granted or don’t even really think about. Here are some things to be grateful for I would like to share with you.

Life is Not Fair

Life is Not Fair This is one of life’s gifts that too many people do not appreciate. They only ever see the negative side of life being unfair, but what about the flip side? Of all the things to be grateful for, life being unfair is the top one. It means you can win big at a horse race on your first bet, when another guy has done it 20 years and never won big. It means that you can get promoted, even if you have not worked there that long, and it means you can find the perfect partner, even if you have only been single a couple of days. If life were perfectly fair we’d be less ambitious, have fewer goals and fewer opportunities to want to better ourselves.

Not Everybody is Bad

Not Everybody is Bad If point number one was top of the things to be grateful for in life, this would be a close number two. It is actually a philosophical piece from the great movie “ParaNorman.” Without spoiling the movie for you, the young boy explains, “Just because there are bad people in the world, it doesn’t mean there aren’t any good ones.” Such a simple message is often forgotten by most of us, but there truly are good people in the world; we just don’t hear about them on the news or are not lucky enough to meet them.

Life’s Little Diversions

Life’s Little Diversions We all have our own. Some people like a drink, others a smoke, and some like sex with strangers. Others prefer train spotting or inventing things to become the next Iron Man. Whatever your little diversion is, it is great to be able to indulge yourself when the opportunity arises.

The Times when It Does Not Go Bad

The Times when It Does Not Go Bad Ever had one of those times where you wish you could turn back the clock ten seconds and avoid something? It may be accidentally knocking a tin of paint onto the new carpet, or it may be plowing into the back of a police car at 30mph. Whatever the disaster, aren’t those times that you avoid them great? Those times when you look back and think, “Wow, I could have died,” or “Wow, the s**t could have really hit the fan that day.”

Life

Life It is supposed to end, as that is the meaning of life. Sometimes it ends too soon, but the fact that we have life at all is amazing. The statistical chances of life existing at all is beyond human comprehension, so if you were to work out the statistical chances of your birth, then you would need several lifetimes in order to spell out the number.

Famous Quotes

Love is like a friendship caught on fire. In the beginning a flame, very pretty, often hot and fierce, but still only light and flickering. As love grows older, our hearts mature and our love becomes as coals, deep-burning and unquenchable.

Mother Nature

Mother Nature It is sad to see what we humans have done to the earth, and sad to see what we are still doing. But, it is great when Mother Nature takes a swipe and wins one back. Mother Nature brings down mountains and drains oceans. Even in Chernobyl, the biggest pollution site on the planet, the plants and animals have still returned. Sure, there are no giant radioactive lizards like the Godzilla movies promised us, but somehow, even on the most ravaged part of the earth, Mother Nature has sent in the troops.

Choice

Choice This comes at the bottom of the list of things to be grateful for, because freedom in itself is simply allowing us a range of choice. For example, you may choose to drive on the other side of the road, but you are not really free to make that choice without consequences. But, compared to most countries, we have more choice than any other. There are countries with people that think it is amazing that we can buy food past 7pm at night, and others are thrilled that women are allowed to drink in public.

Our world and our lives give us so many things to be grateful for and it’s not always in an obvious way. Has this given you some food for thought? What are you grateful for?
