7 Things Grateful People Don't do ...

Since they don’t necessarily have more than others and they simply recognize and see the potential in their lives, here are a few things grateful people don’t do. A study from 2003 performed by the scientists at the University of California found that people who cultivate thankfulness are generally happier and healthier than the people who don’t. Being grateful is not only essential in making others feel important, is about feeling important yourself too. The happiest people on Earth are the ones who are free of circumstantial happiness, so even if their surroundings tell them that they have nothing to be happy about, they smile and they live their life to the fullest. Here are 7 things grateful people don’t do:

1. They Don’t Compare Themselves to Others

One of the most important things grateful people don’t do is compare their journey to anyone else’s. There’s no point in comparing yourself to the ones around you because focusing on your faults and on someone else’s strengths will not make you happier. Learn to love and accept yourself just the way you are and focus on what you do have.

2. They Don’t Need to Feel Happy to Be Happy

Just like Cindy Keating, storyteller and speaker, said “Contentment is a continual inner display of happiness regardless of life’s uncontrollable circumstances.”. Grateful people really appreciate what they have, they love who they are and they see every day as an opportunity to become a better version of themselves. Grateful people don’t fight to step on anyone to get to the top, they are happy just the way they are.

3. They Don’t Run from Their Imperfections

Grateful people love and accept themselves just the way they are. They don’t run from their imperfections since they know that every single human being has flaws. Nobody’s perfect, so try to embrace your little imperfections and move forward. Don’t be afraid to fail either since failure can be one of the best teachers you’ll ever have.

4. They Don’t Allow Time to Control Them

Even though they are extremely busy, grateful people don’t allow time to control them. They also know how precious time is and they respect that and that’s why they see every single day as an opportunity to become better at what they do. Yet, they don’t feel guilty or stressed out if they don’t manage to take care of all their tasks, since they know that tomorrow is another day full of hopes and dreams.

5. They Don’t Assume Their Life Will Always Be Good

Grateful people know that things could go awry at any times, that despite best efforts; life can throw curve balls sometimes. Grateful people are happy for what they have and they do know that sometimes bad things will happen to them, but they just accept that and they move on.

6. They Don’t Expect to Get Something in Return

Grateful people do things for others just because they want to make the people around them happy and that’s why they don’t expect something in return. They do nice things for the people they love and even for complete strangers because they know that a simple act of kindness can really make someone’s day.

7. They Don’t Neglect Themselves

People who are grateful don’t neglect themselves and that’s why they don’t miss any chance to boost themselves up with a little self-gratitude. They do things they love, they take breaks, and they enjoy themselves since they know that sometimes the only person who can thank you for a job well-done is you.

Grateful people don’t get impatient, they don’t frown, they don’t get easily upset and they don’t underestimate the value of little things. Do you know any other things grateful people don’t do? Please share your thoughts with us in the comments section!
