The Last Battle
If it should be that I grow frail and weak,
And pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then will you do what must be done?
For this - the last battle - can't be won.
You will be sad I understand,
But don't let grief then stay your hands,
For on this day, more than the rest,
Your love and friendship must stand the test.
We have had so many happy years,
You wouldn' t want me to suffer so,
When the time comes please let me go.
Take me to where my needs they'll tend,
Only, stay with me until the end
And hold me firm and speak to me,
until my eyes no longer see.
I know in time you will agree,
It is a kindness you do for me.
Although my tail it's last has waved,
From pain and suffering, I have been saved.
Don't grieve that it must be you,
Who has to decide these things you do.
We've been so close - we two - these years,
Don't let your heart hold any tears.

It always breaks your heart when you know time gets closer when your dear beloved friend is old and frail, it hurts to see the suffering as painful as to let them go. You want to hang on even you know you have to let go.
Memories came flooding of times you share when your four-legged friend is always there more likely than people you care. They are always there to greet you when you come home, wag their tail as happy as can be. They are family that loves you unconditionally, never judge you no matter how messy you can be.
All they need is love and attention, and they are just as happy as can be, they don't ask for anything else they are just happy that way. They just want to be with you, waits for you to come home. Your paw friends love you regardless, even in times that you are not lovable.
People come and go more often, but your paw friends stay and live their life for you. They give you love more than you could possibly know. And it's the love and memories you know you always keep.
You take care of them with such tender hearts and comfort them until your teardrops start. we face a lot of battles as we live and work each day, our paw friends make as smile as they teach us how to play.
The world is full of people but sometimes real friends are few, and sometimes these real friends are the best one with a paw.
