1

Accept Your Emotions

As I’ve said before, recovering from betrayal is never easy, but it’s something you can achieve if you persevere and if you follow a few simple steps. The first one would be to accept your emotions, even though such a thing can be difficult sometimes. It’s completely normal to feel hurt and angry so don’t try to mask that. Accept your feelings and focus on what you can do to feel better.

2

Communicate Your Feelings

Once you realize what you are feeling, the next step you should take is to communicate those feelings to the one who betrayed you, but make sure you do that with calm. Be honest with that person and tell them how their actions made you feel. Tell them they hurt you, that they disappointed you and that you do have a hard time trusting them again.

3

Take It Easy on Yourself

Even though all your loved ones are telling you not to cry and to move on, don’t feel bad about yourself and don’t punish yourself if you feel like crying or spending some time alone. It’s natural to feel sad or angry and you should take some time to clear your mind and to realize what you want to do next.

4

Work on Your Self-Confidence

The best thing you can do when you’ve been betrayed is to work on your self-confidence and to build a good self-esteem. You still are a wonderful person and you should try to remember that. People love you because you have so many amazing qualities, so focus on them when you are feeling low and surround yourself with positive and happy people.

5

Control Your Anger

Even though sometimes you feel angry and hurt, try to do everything you can to control your anger and to not let those feelings stand in the way of your happiness. When you confront the person that hurt you, try not to respond with insults or with violence, so you can avoid saying or doing something you might regret. Try to resolve that situation with calm and don’t take revenge on someone else.

6

Do Things That Make You Feel Good

Try to foster positive emotions and do things that make you feel good. Watch your favorite movie, read your favorite book or listen to your favorite songs. Surround yourself with positive people and spend time with friends who inspire and encourage you and who can help you see the good in every situation.

7

Learn to Forgive

This can be one of the hardest things to do when you feel betrayed but it’s a necessary thing to do in order to move on and grow emotionally. Let go of all that pain and learn to forgive. Try not to hold a grudge on anyone because this will only make you feel miserable and like you are stuck in your past.

Recovering from betrayal is not that easy but it’s not an impossible thing either. Have you ever been betrayed? How did you recover? Do you know any other steps to recovering from betrayal? Please share your thoughts with us in the comments section!

I need this!

In life god throws situations at us that we may not understand but that doesn't mean they aren't there for a reason. Betrayal is such a horrible experience but a much worse feeling is thinking low of yourself because of someone else's actions. Live to love yourself and thank those who hurt you cause they helped build the person you are today

I'll never learn to forgive.

forgiving someone that hurt you is so hard to do. I'm having a hard time forgiving someone because I'm still hurting. the saddest thing about it is that only someone you really trust and care for can hurt so bad. once I love someone it's so hard to take that love back, even when loving them hurts.

You forgive for yourself not the loser who betrayed u.

forgiving someone is the hardest thing to do, especially once you've been betrayed so many times by this person. how do you forgive ? how do you let it all go and act like it never happened ?

Husband of 25 years , cheated with older, fat, cigarette smoking woman , then lies without clean admissions and an agreement to work on why this occurred. Why would I forgive this.

It is not our job to judge. Don't surround yourself with people who would do that to you.

I agree .. Forgiving is the hardest part! I wish we could just delete the painful memory
