When it comes to growing up and transforming into mature, independent, responsible adults, most of us are all just doing the best we can with what we’ve got! Life is a funny thing. You can feel like you are doing really well and then all of a sudden a few things happen that put you right back at square one. For the majority of us, it’s not about being rich and famous, it’s simply about having our shit together to be happy! Here are five simple ways to keep your life on track.
It is essential that you take some time to really add a structure to your everyday life. Buy one of those huge kitchen calendar planners and write everything you need to down on it from your plans to your finances to your appointments and everything in between. You shouldn’t underestimate just how helpful it can be to see all of your life written out in front of you like that.
Even if you are having a day when you don’t have to go to work, or you are taking a sick day etc., always do something that you can look back on and say that you moved forward. It could be a small thing or a big thing, but the main goal is to never look back on a day in the evening and thing “wow, I really didn’t do anything productive at all today”.
We have a tendency to dwell on the past which doesn’t help anyone or anything but our own memories and nostalgia. If you really want to get your life on track, you need to spend less time thinking about yesterday and more time thinking about tomorrow! Make plans about what you want to be doing next year, in the next five years, even in the next ten years! Looking forward never hurt anyone.
It can be really helpful for morale and motivation if you track all of your progress. It allows you to look back on it and really see how far you have come. Tracking things like improved expenses, improved health, even just an improved personal life in the form of a journal can be really beneficial.
Don’t underestimate the power of meditation. Just carving out the time to spend ten quiet minutes with yourself in a busy morning can set you up for a much more organised and productive day.
