Finding ways to rebound from disappointment can be challenging. Allow yourself to feel the disappointment, but don’t wallow in it. Acknowledge it, learn from it, and keep going. Regardless of whether it’s a job situation or personal, you can rebound from disappointment and go on to have great success! Just take it in stride, believe in yourself, and move on!
Out of every disappointment is a lesson learned. Go ahead and put on your scholar’s cap, and learn your lessons. While the relationship may not have ended as you had hoped, did you learn something about what you’re willing to accept, and not willing to accept? Even though you didn’t get the job, did you find out what they were looking for so the next time a position like this becomes available, you’re ready? Learning lessons is one of the most valuable ways to rebound from disappointment!
Are you attracted to the same kind of guy over and over again, sure the final result of each relationship will be different? Do you have the same diet routine each time you want to lose that stubborn twenty pounds, only to have the same outcome of not losing any weight at all? Insanity’s definition is to do the same thing over and over, expecting different results. Until you realize your negative patterns, and commit to stopping them, disappointment will follow. Once you break the damaging cycle though, you will start to see the light!
So a door shut. It was a disappointment for sure. But look at that huge, gorgeous window to the left of that shut door, which is wide open! Go for it, if it feels right. Those closing doors are not a negative thing. They just lead you to where you really want to be. Haven’t you pried open a few of those padlocked doors in the past, only to find everything you didn’t want? The forbidden fruit wasn’t behind it, just a bunch of rotten apples. So go after the easier, happier, more positive path. If it doesn’t seem exciting or edgy enough for you, how exciting is it to be perpetually disappointed by the wrong choices made with your full consent? Instead, choose positivity, and the excitement of a fulfilling path can be yours!
Don’t worry about the negativity surrounding you. The main voice you must heed is your own. Let your voice be filled with love and understanding for you, and encouragement for your next try. Tell yourself you will finish the next 5k run, you will pass your driver’s test, you will choose a nice guy to date. You are a power person in your life. Listen to yourself, and don’t forget to give yourself loads of compliments!
The people in your life can have a profound effect on how you view your life. Surround yourself with those who support you, help to lift you up when disappointment enters your life’s picture, and get you back on the right track again. This positivity is contagious, and prosperous!
Don’t ignore the disappointment you’ve suffered. Just like a bad rash, it will come back. Instead, take the time to acknowledge the grief, and then let it go. The disappointment is not yours to keep. It has a short shelf life, and when you’re done with it, throw it away, but keep the lesson bottle the disappointment was stored in for future use.
It’s so easy to go over the disappointing situations time and time again in our minds. How should or could you have changed things, what you wish you would have done differently. Let it go. It’s done. Now it’s time to move on. You have a lot of life left to live, and your Technicolor mind has more to focus on than what was. What will be is so much more interesting!
Disappointment is a part of every life. How you handle it is yours uniquely. What do you do to overcome life’s disappointments?
