In order to stay happy and healthy, we need to find the perfect work/life balance, so that other things will not interfere with our happiness. Even though sometimes you might feel exhausted because of all the work you have to do, because there are so many tasks to take care of and so little time to do it, you can still find your balance and make time for the things you truly enjoy. Just like Thomas Merton once said, “Happiness is not a matter of intensity, but of balance, order, rhythm, and harmony.” Just read on and discover a few very useful ways to stay happy while you are extremely busy that will allow you to work towards your dream and take new responsibilities without feeling overwhelmed:

1

Make Sure All Your Basic Needs Are Met

One of the most important ways to stay happy while you are extremely busy is to make sure that all your basic needs are met. Try to eat right, drink enough water to stay hydrated and make sure you get enough sleep. You need to do this in order to keep your strength, to be able to face all the challenges that you might encounter and to overcome all the obstacles that might appear in your path.

2

Make Plans

If you want to keep everything under control, try to plan ahead as much as you can. Stay organized and practice discipline, so you’ll make enough time not only for work and for those tasks you need to complete, but also for those things you truly enjoy that will help you feel energized and refreshed. Make a to-do list or use an organization app. There are plenty of ways to stay organized, so use them in order to minimize the chances for missing something and throwing your busy schedule off course.

3

Pay Attention to Your Emotions

When you’re extremely busy, you may feel stressed and overwhelmed, and that’s why you may easily lose your temper and you will often act extremely out of character. Try to keep an eye on your emotions, so you’ll know if they begin to spiral out of control when you find yourself under huge amounts of pressure. Don’t let your emotions affect your behavior and interfere with your happiness! If you notice that your stress level skyrockets, take a little break, take deep breaths and simply focus on those things that make you happy. You will feel more relaxed in no time and you will manage to stay happy and balanced, even if you are extremely busy.

4

Set Realistic Expectations

When you’re extremely busy and you feel like you don’t have time for anything, not even for yourself, try to set some realistic expectations about what you can and what you cannot do. You’re only human, after all, and no matter how hard you try, you don’t have superpowers and you can't do everything. Just organize your schedule, do what you can and then adjust as you go.

5

Make Time for Yourself

No matter how busy your schedule is, always make some time for yourself. You need to take breaks every now and then, so you’ll be able to keep going and work in order to reach your goals and to fulfill all your dreams. Just plan some “me time” every day and do those things you enjoy so much that you never seem to have enough time for. This will help you clear your head, you’ll reassess that situation that is stressing you out and you will allow your mind to be at its best.

Be Aware of Your Limitations

As I’ve said before, try to be aware of your limitation and realize that you can’t do everything. Learn to prioritize and realize that you cannot fit more hours into a day just to make sure you complete all your tasks. Think of your own happiness every now and then and remind yourself that you are not a superhuman and that you have limitations. You will be able to stay happy and balanced if you focus on your own needs every once in a while.

7

See Challenges as Opportunities

If you can manage to see challenges as opportunities to grow and to learn new things, you won’t feel so stressed out and exhausted. Just try to turn negatives into positives and focus only on the bright side of things. Don’t dwell on your past! Search for solutions to your problems and for creative ways to overcome all the obstacles that might appear in your path.

There are a lot of ways to stay happy while you are extremely busy. I just mentioned a few in this little article but I’m sure there are many more I haven’t talked about. Can you give me a hand and tell me if you know any other things you can do to stay happy and balanced even if you have a busy schedule? Please tell us what you think in the comments section!

breathing exercises have helped me out! And it is proven to switch your sympathetic nerves system (which is what gets you aroused "when youre mad") over to your parasympathetic nervous system (what calms you down). There is a doctor who did a lecture over it and explained exactly how to breathe to switch it over. I am sorry, I cant remember his name but I am sure you can go to an online college library and find information on it or even you tube the doctor so you can see exactly how to do it. (:

I'm always busy especially when I don't have a housemaid for I have to attend first to the needs of my disabled husband before anything else.but there are times that I do some exercises while cooking and cleaning. I just make myself happy that I'm still useful which I consider a great blessings from God.
