How to Stop Comparing Yourself to Other Women ...

By Holly

You're perfect just the way you are. Never let another woman's beauty make you feel worse about your own looks. There's no reason to compare yourself with others, because it's not going to do anything but cause you more stress and sadness. In the spirit of self-love, here are a few things to remember the next time you start to compare yourself to another woman:

1

You Know Yourself Better than You Know Her

You look at yourself in the mirror every single day, so you have plenty of time to search your face and body for flaws. However, the women that you see on television or at the supermarket are only in your line of sight for a few seconds. That's not nearly enough time to scrutinize them, so of course you'll assume that they're more beautiful than you. The next time you find yourself comparing your looks to another woman's looks, remember that you know yourself way too well and you don't know that woman nearly enough.

2

She's Probably Jealous of You, Too

The grass is always greener on the other side. That's why you're always going to think that others are more beautiful than you are. However, that girl that you're so jealous of is probably jealous of you, too. While you want her size 2 jeans, she wants your pearly white smile. Start seeing what she sees.

3

Be Happy for Her, Not Jealous

Us girls should stick together. It's easy to get mad at someone for being "prettier" than you are when you should actually be happy for her. You don't know how long it could've taken her to get ready in the morning. You don't know how much surgery she got to look the way she wanted. Don't turn down a potential friendship out of jealousy. Be happy for her.

4

Pretend to Love Yourself

Haven't you heard the phrase "fake it until you make it?" It's actually true. If you walk with more confidence and keep your head up high in order to trick others into believing you're confident, then soon you'll actually become confident. It's funny the way the brain works.

5

Focus on the Positive

When you glance in the mirror, stop staring at your pimples and start staring at your beautiful pouty lips. When you step into the shower, stop looking at your scars and start looking at your gorgeous curves. If you focus on the positive aspects of yourself, then you'll start believing that you're truly beautiful.

Alter What You Hate

You're stuck in your body, but you're still capable of changing it if you're not happy with what it looks like. If you hate the size of your thighs, exercise. If you hate the color of your eyes, get colored contacts. You don't have to walk around hating yourself. You can change your appearance if it's bothering you that much.

7

Compliment Others

If you compliment others more often, then you'll learn to see beauty before you see flaws. That optimism is contagious. Once you start seeing the positives in others, then it'll be easier for you to see the positives in the mirror.

Once you stop comparing yourself to others, you'll find yourself feeling a whole lot happier. What's the most beautiful thing about your face and body?

well, i don't think alter yourself is such a good idea, maybe working out for the sake of health, but lenses? I mean, learn to love yourself just you are, because if you don't you'll never be satisfied no matter how many surgeries you get, you'll always find another flaw. it's a self-esteem matter.

So true this helped me a lot xxx

I love my eyebrows but don't like my acne n pimples but i love every thing bout my body even though i feel a little jealous lol

I don't judge by physical years much but, what I don't understand is why nobody wants to be friends with me, even when I try to be kind and loyal. On the other hand, my classmate is rude and bullies other people. But she has so many more more who like her. I compare myself based on personality traits sometimes

I was a good article but I would have loved it if it was about comparison in general and not only about looks.

I don't Even look at anyone...I have better things to do than to look at someone. Of course if I at an event and a girl looks good then of course I will give a compliment but apart from that can't be asked.

I do comment on other woman's looks & some people might think that I am comparing their looks to mine but I love myself too much already to do such a silly thing to do. The way I look at everyone/everything around me but I don't want their figures, I only want to improve my own life/body type. I do everything as a personal challenge, all I want to do is improve my own things to do. I lawn bowl & I want to throw an equal or better bowl than I did the last bowl.

Ahh I loved this!!! I really needed to ready this right now. Well written!

Love this article.
